Side 2:

I’m not completely sure of the date on this demo, but some sources online say 1988, and this seems to be the demo leading up to their 1989 release Under the Same Sky (both of them also being produced by David Zaffiro of Bloodgood fame). So I will go with 1988 unttil someone says otherwise. Three of the four songs here were on their self-titled demo as well on Under the Same Sky (with “Winds of Change” appearing to be the only unique song here). This is still AOR with some slight power pop leanings (mostly on “1000 Candles”).

The Reach was a band started by Brett Williams in 1984. They released at least two demos as The Reach before signing to Image Records to release Under the Same Sky in 1989. Then they changed names to In Reach, signed with Star Song Records, and released Waterline in 1992. Then another name change to Brett Williams & In Reach, with a third album called Power & Promise in 1993. Many of their releases were produced by David Zaffiro of Bloodgood fame, but I am not sure if this one was. The sound on this demo is AOR Rock with a few power pop leanings here and there. “1000 Candles,” “Tonight,” “Vogue,” and “Before I Go” all appear on Under the Same Sky. This was another demo that I got in a large trade (finally getting back to chronicling those), so I don’t know much more than the info in the picture above. The band members and instruments listed above are based on later albums. But this is good stuff that shows why they were signed later. There was another demo after this one called B-4-I-Go.
