When I said in the review for 2006: Not That Far Away that that demo would be the last review that I knew of… I guess I lied. I thought this was a band named Tingo until I saw the cover and realized it is another Harrison release. Like his other releases, there is no date on this one. But it appears it is a tribute to his cat Tingo that died (possibly by being run over) on February 25, 1992. So I would guess 1992? But it could be much later. Like his other albums, this one is also instrumental, this time with no sermons or vocals of any kind. It’s kind of ambientĀ  music that feels like it was more like 2006 than his other albums like Last Days Hype or Bent on Rebellion. Some of the songs are free-flowing, others have structure. I could see fans of some of Jeff Johnson’s work liking this as well. well, if you like Jeff Johnson mixed with Marc Plainguet.

So this is the other Richard Harrison tape I have in the stacks – even though there is another one I have heard called Beyond The Schartzchild Radius that I need to review at some time as well. Still no date on this one, but I would put it sometime possibly between 1993 and 2006 due to the title and the first song. Where as Last Days Hype was weird sermons and speeches over rocking music, and Bent on Rebellion was instrumental music of all kinds – this tape is more ambient and experimental. It’s kind of like found noise mixed with ambient music. Well, one song (“Weeds”) does have a sermon over it – a very Pentecostal style one. And “Altar Call” has an altar call in it, of course.

Update: Turns out there is another tape called Tingo that turned up.

I thought after hearing Harrison’s Last Days Hype that I had heard of all his music. But then two more tapes of his were hiding at the bottom of the box. The music is similar to his other tape, but this one is all instrumental. It is totally missing the weird sermons/teachings/etc that were played over the songs on Last Days Hype. I guess this means that Harrison played all of the instruments here? Its generally rock/alternative rock/progressive rock with all kinds of various other influences mixed in. No date on this one, so I am not sure if it is before or after his other tapes. The other one that I found is called 2006: Not That Far Away. Which I guess means it was recorded several years before that? I would still guess the 1990s for all his tapes. But I could be wrong.

Missing Information: When was this released?

So, this is not a rap album, despite the name of the tape. It seems to be a series of sermons, teachings, lectures, etc played over various forms of music. No song titles are given, and there is no way to really tell what they would be since these are all speeches. The first track is a fiery sermon over a heavy metal instrumental track. The sermon seriously cherry-picks scriptures about Jesus being a jerk. The second track is a reflection of sorts spoken over a quirky indie rock music. Some songs have rock music in the background, some experimental, some new age. There really are just a lot of really odd topics covered – I don’t know if these speeches were chosen because Harrison agrees with the weird things, or if he is trying to expose the weird fringes of Christianity: All kinds of wild anti-Islamic predictions are made (and none came true). One guy makes some joke about AIDS “sprouting wings” (mutating in ways we knew it never would to become airborne). I also don’t know if the music is sampled from other sources, or created by Harrison. He is pretty talented at many styles if he played all of the music here as well. I know Harrison has another tape called Beyond The Schartzchild Radius, but that one doesn’tĀ  have a date either – so I don’t know if it was before or after this one. Update: found two more – Bent on Rebellion and 2006: Not That Far Away.
