A few years ago I discovered a 90s band called Return that released a full-length called Free Your Soul in 1994. It was a trippy combination of alternative rock, hard rock, progressive/modern rock, and a few other things. That kinds of makes it sound like the funk rock of Red Hot Chilli Peppers, but it’s really not. They are just doing their own thing that is hard to describe. Hints of The Cult, U2, The Smiths, and several other alternative rock bands. Anyways, I was excited to see this demo in the stacks. The last track (“Soldier”) is the only one that wasn’t re-recorded for Free Your Soul in 1994, but any unreleased tracks is better than none. The other three tracks are different versions of their later versions – I think I even like the version of “The High Song” on this demo over the later full-length one.
