Mint was a band that was sometimes placed in ads for Worthless Records, but I had never been able to find any of their releases. For a while, I was convinced that they had been signed but never released anything. Worthless described them as “Starflyer 59 meets Catherine Wheel,” so I had really hoped they had a release. And then this tape showed up. It’s short, but the description is pretty accurate. Since this is 1997, think its more Gold-era (or I guess it was officially their second self-titled album) SF59. There are no crunching wall of guitar songs like early SF59 – kind of an atmospheric, moody shoegaze sound, but with a bit more breathing room than SF59 had at this time. This seems to be a mostly one-person project. But I don’t know if there was anything else before or after this.
