Boanerges was an early Christian band that had a hard rock/progressive rock sound. Since they were an early 80s band, the sound also has a distinct classic rock sound. They members of the band have put both demos and some live tracks up for download on SoundCloud. The live tracks were from 1983, but no date is given for the two demos. Apparently the band moved to Atlanta and changed their name to Sacred Fire. As Sacred Fire, they toured as Leslie Phillips’ backing band, and even opened for Petra’s Beat The System Tour in 1985. So if  you would like a more progressive rock version of Petra, they do a good job of pulling that sound together. And the quality of the demo tracks isn’t too bad, especially considering their age.
