I tend to see this band listed as Children (ND) to indicate that this is the band from North Dakota, not the California one that eventually morphed into the Violet Burning (even though that band was The Children). Both bands were basically alternative rock bands with a few different leanings. This Children seems to take the Americana leanings that U2 was experimenting with at the time and incorporates them more into their sound than the classic U2 sound that most bands copy. At the time, we would have called this roots rock – not quite folk or Americana, but still more alternative than John Cougar Melloncamp. From the band member list, this seems to be made up of two sets of brothers and a singer they found to join them. Also, I think this is the only tape I have found that manages to fit in three color pictures of the band on the tape j-card.
