For those that weren’t in the know, after Breakfast With Amy recorded their debut album Everything was Beautiful and Nothing Hurts (which was technically never released at the time except into a small handful of stores), they signed to a record label called Vinyl Vox Records (sub-label of Relativity Records) and recorded an album called Tuck in Your Love Gift. It was also not released. Then they took two songs from Tuck in Your Love Gift (“Tell Mama” and “Bill’s Shoe Shine” / “Ad America”), re-recorded them, and added nine other songs to become Dad on Blonde Vinyl Records in 1991. Yep, their third album was actually the first one to be fully released. Then they took the left over tracks from Tuck in Your Love Gift released them as product # bvcd 3482 (love gift) on Blonde Vinyl in 1992. But a few tape copies of rough mixes of the original Tuck in Your Love Gift were sent out in the wild, and this is one of them. This sounds sonically closer to Everything was Beautiful and Nothing Hurts rather than product # bvcd 3482 (love gift), so maybe those songs were upgraded on the official release. No unreleased songs, just an interesting look at the progression of the band. Came in a clamshell tape box with a BWA sticker on it, and no details about who played on it. Band membership listed above is from their previous album, as that carried over to the next as well.
